Before women fully integrated into the British Army, there was the Women’s Royal Army Corps — the WRAC. Formed in 1949, it replaced the wartime Auxiliary Territorial Service and became the main branch for women in uniform. WRAC soldiers worked in vital roles: communications, intelligence, driving, logistics, admin, even military police. During the Cold War, many served in Germany supporting British forces on the front line of NATO defence. They weren’t allowed in close combat roles, but their work kept the Army running. In 1992, the WRAC was disbanded, and women were integrated into the regular corps — marking a huge shift toward the modern British Army we know today
The WRAC Greatcoat is a very impressive piece of clothing, they're so very rarely seen and even rarer sold. we just got our hands on small lot of these and were very excited to have such a prestige piece of history available. These have double breasted facing, three button back belt, a rich emerald green construction and a classic gorgeous cut
Condition:
Grade 1: Overall good order though may have some small moth nips and wear due to these being around 60 years old
Grade 2: Contains more holes and nips which may require more significant repair hence reduced price
